 8/1 - Monday

The girls came home and excitedly told me that they saw a frog at the Y, a very green very small one. At the same place where they saw 4 kid raccoons last time. Ella: "I played only with Amelia today. We played a lot. She only played with me."

On the weekend I was at the library and grabbed a few manga books for the girls to browse. Today for dinner reading Mimi picked Cardcaptor Sakura. I read a couple chapters. I couldn't recall reading any of them, although they were all generic - Sakura does something with her friends, then a spirit appears and she captures it. Except her and 小狼 were already close, which felt weird in book 2, since I remember more conflicts. Afterwards I looked up on wiki. Apparently I have Cardcaptor Sakura clear card, which is a sequel to Cardcaptor Sakura, and it's still ongoing!

Alas the pgo apple auth fire came back flaming. I opened my computer around 9p, to find a thread with unhappy back and forth between folks (not me), concluding that Apple had given an ultimatum that pgo include an auth fix by next build or be pulled from store. Jake (the dude with weird slack photo) suggested we go to sleep, and we did.

We moved back upstairs to sleep. Not that hot anymore, but still pretty warm. I folded the kids's 花被 and put out blankets. After sending them to bed, they came to my office demanding to know where their 花被went. I gave the 花被s back, and warned them to only keep half on, or they might be toasted. Turned out it got really cold in the night and it was good they had the 花被 fully on.

8/2 - Tuesday

The day of pgo fire. Good job past song for getting the auth client changes almost done. Did not become the long pole today. Plus Daniel's fast doc writing with great formatting saved me so much time.

In the evening took it easy and went on a craze walk with the kids. They wanted to go to the basketball court. There were about 7 Chinese kids there. One of them, upon seeing the girls, said she was disappointed that not many kids came to play today. Ella Mimi of course stayed far away from them and threw rocks in the still water.

8/3 - Wednesday

So cold today! Shivering in my shorts. Changed into fleece pants and had a blanket on the whole day.

Pgo testing was fine until 4pm, when it broke bad, no action worked XD As of now still don't know what's wrong. Unsure if it's auth so chillax for the night.

Jam came home and asked if I'd like to go to 10 seconds, as the kids had requested 盐酥鸡. I agreed and got in the car. Jam then told me that Mimi lost her water bottle. We decided to go to Target after restaurant to buy new water bottles. Ella said we shouldn't because we would be wasting money. We assured her a new water bottle after a year is ok. After a bit Mimi started whining that we're mean, and threw her car water bottle. We decided to turn around and go home to not deal with tantrum kid in the restaurant.

After we got in the garage, as I went out of the car to open Ella's door, there was a loud snap. We examined and found the garage door cable broken. We got the girls inside, separated them, for they were both tantruming. Mimi still from car drama. Ella for the disappointment of no 盐酥. Ella accepted her fate quickly though, and rolled around on my lap. After she's settled I pulled out yelp and contacted some garage repair peeps. Eventually settled on one who could come out the soonest.

When the garage person came, I sent Jam to deal with them. At this time I got ~$350 quotes from 2 others. Jam came back and reported that this person would charge $450. I requested Jam to send him away. Jam came back and reported he would charge only $350. I asked what would he repair. Jam came back and reported he would retie our same wire to the door for $200. We decided to send him away. After he was gone, Jam examined and determined our cable was frayed, and tying it back would not have helped.

I did NNAT with the girls. Ella first. Then Mimi. Mimi only got 3 questions wrong. She asked how many did Eloise get wrong. I couldn't remember, I said maybe 6. Mimi: "I won't tease Eloise". After we corrected the 3, I called Ella over to do their hair while watching one piece. Mimi said very quietly: "I only got 3 wrong." Ella made a face and asked loudly "how many did you say?" I interrupted Mimi and asked Ella what she would do if Mimi got less questions wrong than her. Before Ella could answer, Mimi said "Mama said you got 6 wrong." Ella yelled "I GOT 7 WRONG!" I said both of them did very well, and asked if they wanted to watch one piece or fight. Mimi: "oh I think I got 6 wrong." Ella looked very mad. I told them I don't make as much money as Jam and lots of other people, but I still keep working, so I won't make 0, yet. Ella asked if we had a lot of money, I said yes. There was some silence. Mimi said she farted, it's been her way to make up with Ella. Ella chuckled. I asked them if they'd like to watch one piece. Both agreed. We watched one piece, did hair, cleaned up, and I tucked them in.

8/4 - Thursday

The new garage person is such a chill bro. His partner has no emotions. $300 cash and they don't charge any tax XD Now pray they really changed the cable and it has some staying power.

Ordered 10 seconds delivery. Jam seemed pleased. Ella loved the 盐酥, but Mimi rejected it for not spicy enough. I sprinkled some seven spice for Mimi. She ate an entire nugget in one bite, then started making faces and sticking her tongue out. She drank a whole cup of water, then angrily told me it was too spicy. I got her to sit down after a bit and dusted on a little less 7 spice. She seems to be ok, but asked for a different food. I gave her an egg and read some full metal. She took a huge chomp once, then ~1min later another huge chomp, then ~1min later one final chomp.

Pgo fire continued into the evening. Ate dinner without checking computer, took care of Mimi's dinner requests and read manga. Then I opened the computer and noticed the deletion pipeline was broken. I went upstairs for almost 2 hours, alas couldn't fix it, or the android apple sign in. Did hack compliance away from the pipeline and finished testing with Yodae :) So called it a day.

8/5 - Friday

A relatively chill day with pgo winding down to submit. In the morning I pinged the data channel asking for ideas for why compliance method was not found. Robert asked a slew of questions and stated I didn't give enough information. I read it as "I don't want to deal with your shit". In the afternoon I found his change that changed the compliance method and broke backward compatibility. I messaged, his reply was "what a great kindness you've done for pointing it out", and two thank yous XD I guess the slew of questions were really just a slew of questions for he didn't know.

Earlier in the week I received these cat stickers I ordered. One of them was out of place of the pack of cute kids stickers. I took some for myself, including that one.

Mimi took some stickers and made a beautiful art of riris and ori's cat tree, from her memory :O

I also found a good use of my stickers

When the kids came home, Mimi played a card game she and Ella made. It involved a lot of stabbing my card while I sprinkled sunshine in the middle, hmm. After Mimi beat me and left, Ella came to play the same game. It involved a lot of slapping my card and criticizing that I'm not slapping her card in the correct way, hmm. After Ella raged on my slapping and left, I went to play lego with Mimi. We played quietly, occasionally showing each other our creations, until dinner time.

Jam had labored hard and made mac and cheese with homemade cheese sauce. I sat and read with the girls in the hope they would eat more of it. Alas they didn't. Mimi was a little sick, with hard sneezes and runny nose. Ella traded me some of her noodle for my 姥姥馒头。She did come back after some wilding and finished all the noodles eventually :O

We did IOWA, then watched Ms Marvel. The girls went up and quickly fell asleep.

8/6 - Saturday

Ella came in sometime in the morning and puffed me a bunch. Asked me to make different sounds cutely, and asked to take a picture. I was too sleepy to take a picture. I was apparently also too sleepy to snooze the alarm and instead turned it off. Ella fell asleep after a bit too with me. We didn't wake up until close to 10, and didn't get ready to go out until close to 11. A presumably starving jam asked for lunch, we decided to abandon rainier plans and go to dough zone.

The girls complained a lot about trying new food, ate slow, and we ended dinner when the day got hot. Ella was complaining about everything. So we decided to go home.

Happier times before we made them try more food:

I showered the girls. Then chilled and opened a Meltan box. Ella asked to catch some too. Since it was only 10 minutes left I let her. After she's done, I've opened >10 gifts and had ~20 balls left X'D

I sorted photos from the personal drive to move over to the picture drive. I randomly clicked on one picture in the folder, and discovered I dressed the girls in the same tops for last year. Not too surprising for these are the only tank tops and they go well together.

After some homework we decided to go to Costco. Apparently when I was showering Ella, Jam took a small walk with Mimi. Which he told us in the car. Ella: "you have to take me next time!" (Slightly angrily) Jam: ok (sign). Ella: "because the best walk is twins together."

When eating dinner Mimi had a sudden realization: "Ella's shirt isn't just cakes, it's cakes and kisses". Ella and I examined, and nodded.

We had to take a twin walk in the evening, it is the best.

This time the girls graciously let Jam join, after what felt like 10 minutes of Jam negotiations. We walked to the basketball court first, which was full of Chinese kid and badminton couples (two of which were not Chinese). Jam couldn't stand the girls playing in the mud, so we headed to the school playground. The play structures are even more sticky than last time. We still had a good time walking and talking. They asked a lot of questions about Ms Marvel. So we watched it when we came home.

At bedtime, the girls kept coming downstairs, stating it was too scary for them to sleep, because we watched Ms Marvel. For the past few nights Ella had requested me to tell them a bedtime story that's not scary. I told them a few journey to the west stories that I can remember. Sun wu Kong peeing on 如来佛's finger remains their favorite. Tonight I decided to take it easy and read them a chapter of 木偶奇遇记。It was about how gepetto labored hard to make Pinocchio, who immediately started disrespecting his every ask. The chapter ended with Gepetto crying and asking why did he not foresee he could have created such a 木偶. Too real.

I probably finished quarter bag of Boom chicka pop I just bought from Costco this afternoon.

8/7 - Sunday

Woke up early and got ready for Rainier! Checked website and it said expect long delays. The linked google map didn't look too bad, so we headed out.

Ella had an IXL meltdown soon after the trip started. "Mimi you did one you almost mastered. You just want mom to be proud of you!" "Mimi you told me you did 2 but you did 3, you LIED!" Jam and I alternated with stern and comforting words, no use. After a while we heard sounds of ads. I asked if Ella was doing IXL, she said sternly she was doing color by number. I asked if it would make her feel better. She didn't say anything. I let her be. The girls started chatting normally after a while.

We listened to canto pop, mando pop, and attack on titan, before we got to the foot of the mountain. The drive time started to not decrease about 20 minutes before we got to the stalked traffic. After 20 minutes of waiting in traffic, the wait time only increased. We decided to turn back.

Mimi was distraught, showered her cheeks with tears. We found a good spot by Alder lake. The girls recovered. They enjoyed pushing woods into the lake. And found a common enemy, a boy who kept pushing back their wood so he could swim. Suddenly someone called "snake!". We all looked, a little snake with its head straight out of water was making its way to the shore, aiming for where there were no people. It hid under a log. Some brave teenagers(?) got by the neck and held it up for everyone to see. The kids and I were amazed. We played for a good half our in 90+ degree sun, then headed to the zoo.

I got a ticket to a wildlife drive through tour. It was a lot of fun! So many animals have different colored butts. A goat and two caribus stared/ran right outside of our car window. The girls wildly yelled at the animals. They didn't seem to mind.

We then walked through the zoo. Mimi threw a fit when Ella spotted some hidden cats and she couldn't. Jam and I were worried for a bit for her eye sight, but she did eventually see the animals, or so she says, and at least calmed down. The last part of the zoo we visited had beevers (so cute!), otters (sooo cute!), badgers (or cute carpets?), and RACCOONZ. That perked the girls right up.

Last stop shaved ice
